English Program

Learning English can be both intimidating and challenging, especially for beginners. We are committed to bridging the educational gaps for Chinese English language learners in the United States. The COA foundation is now offering a platform connecting motivated learners and experienced educators to teach and learn English. Whether you’re a beginner or looking to refine your English, our platform offers the tools and support you need to succeed.

Program Structure

Separate class level— beginner and Intermediate—to ensure students are placed in the right learning environment
20 weekly lessons, 1 hour each, covering a new topic every week
Each class includes a 15-20 minute teacher lecture
Group practice activities focused on speaking and listening
Daily language assessment to tailor lessons to each student’s progress
Small class size (1-3 students) available at limited spaces for personalized attention and engagement

Learning Objectives

At the end of the program, students will be able to:

Master basic vocabulary commonly used in daily conversations
Improve their ability to understand and construct simple sentences
Actively participate in basic conversations
Listen to and comprehend basic spoken language, such as instructions, descriptions, and daily dialogue

Methodology

To best accommodate each student’s needs, lessons are all held online via Zoom at convenient times.

Step 1: Go to https://zoom.us/signup.

Step 2: Enter your email address, or click “Sign in with Google” or “Sign in with Facebook” if you prefer.

Step 3: Check your email inbox for a message from Zoom.

Step 4: Click the activation link in that email to verify your account.

Step 5: Once redirected, enter your name and create a password (must be secure).

Step 6: Click “Continue.”

Step 7: Skip the step to “Invite Colleagues” if you just want to set up your own account.

Step 8: Click “Go to My Account.”

Step 9: You’re now in your Zoom dashboard, where you can schedule or start meetings.

Step 10: Optional — download the Zoom app for your computer or phone at https://zoom.us/download.
